About the book…
Follow the heart through darkness…
As the Inquisition gains force, even the faintest rumor can brand one a heretic. In this world it is Sancha’s gift–or curse–to be blessed with the gift of healing. But the villagers are in need of her arts more than ever, and she feels it is her duty to help them at the risk of losing her life. And at the sacrifice of her heart…
Enrique has never wanted a woman as he does Sancha. Determined to have her love, he woos her with exquisite passion, giving her refuge to pursue her healing in secret. But their very desire and escape from the ruthless forces of the world may be their undoing. And together, they must pit themselves against a jealous rival and archaic tradition to secure their place in a hopeful new dawn…
Q: For the reader who just learned about you, how would you describe your writing style?
Tina: First, thanks for having me here! It’s an honor.
As to your question, I’d describe my style as lushly sensual with a wicked dash of humor. Basically, I’m irreverent, especially in dialogue. I love sexy, witty banter between my characters. I also like a slow burn between the hero (or heroes) and heroine that builds to overwhelming desire and then love.
Q: Was it developed through classes, writer’s group meetings, conferences? Or are you hounded by characters to tell about the challenges in their lives?
Tina: My basic style is who I am as a person. Although I’m basically shy, I do have a wicked sense of humor and once I get to know someone – watch out. As far as my characters are concerned, I write in their voice, not mine. In order to achieve deep POV, I become that character, even if it’s not who I am.
Q: What genres fascinate you? Which ones do you find yourself writing these days?
Tina: I enjoy most genres. I’m pubbed in contemporary, erotic, chick lit, historical, paranormal, sci-fi, romantic comedy, ménage (and more), and romantic suspense. Currently, I’m writing erotic historicals, erotic paranormal, and erotic paranormal-romantic comedy.
Q: Tell us about the Dangerous Desires series? What was the premise of book one?
Tina: The series takes place in medieval Spain – 1488 – and involves the Lopéz de Lara sisters and the de Zayas brothers. Both families are noble, which brings its own hazards, such as arranged marriage and murder to steal the family inheritance. Dangerous Desires is filled with intrigue, action, and romance against a breathtaking backdrop. Spain is a beautiful country with such a rich history. If I could afford to move there, I would.
Loving Lies, book one, is Isabella and Fernando’s story. Here’s the blurb:
Deception knows no limits. Passion knows no bounds.
When she’s kidnapped, Senorita Isabella knows the men have been sent by her uncle in a murderous attempt to control her family’s fortune. But when she is rescued by a dashing and mysterious warrior, Isabella can’t imagine why a stranger would risk his life for her—until she discovers her rescuer believes she’s someone else….
Fernando de Zayas loves nothing more than the cry of battle. Defying death is his way of life. But when he discovers his betrothed has been kidnapped, he rushes to her aid—never suspecting that spirited beauty would soothe his warrior heart…
With her uncle’s minions close on their heels, Isabella finds herself drawing closer to Fernando. But as the desire between them builds, her secret could keep them apart forever…
Q: “Wicked Whispers” is set during the time of the Inquisition. That’s a difficult time period to read about let alone write. Why did you select it?
Tina: Years ago, I wrote a paranormal romance that began during Spain’s Inquisition and then moved to present day. During my research, I fell in love with the country and its people and wanted to write an historical romance during that period.
Q: Now Sancha has been given a very special gift…the ability to heal people. Is this a gift that her family has had for generations or she is the only one who has it?
Tina: Sancha’s late mother also had an interest in medicine and healing, but because of the time period even noble women weren’t allowed to attend university or to pursue studies, especially something as complicated as medicine. Only men were allowed to do that. Noble women were subjected to arranged marriages and expected to have large families to secure the family dynasty. Sancha is incredibly bright and curious about intellectual pursuits. Her healing isn’t magic, it’s based on science, what she’s learned from Islamic medical texts. She experiments just like researchers do today—all in secret, of course.
Q: How has she been able to veil her ability so she isn’t imprisoned?
Tina: She’s cloistered herself at the nunnery in order to pursue her studies in secret. Nuns were allowed to do some healing in those days, but not to the extent that Sancha does. She also steals away to villages to treat the peasants. They’re so grateful for her help, they’ve vowed to keep her secret.
Q: How does she meet Enrique? What kind of life can he offer her?
Tina: Sancha met Enrique in Loving Lies, book one, when she treated Fernando’s injuries from a battle. Enrique immediately fell in love with her. Although Sancha desires him, she doesn’t want marriage to constrain her. She wants to practice her medicine and experiment in secret.
Given that he’s an exceedingly wealthy noble, Enrique can give Sancha the world. Even though she wants love, she also craves freedom to do what she desires (healing). Wicked Whispers explores what Enrique has to do in order to win her heart.
Q. Is this a novel or novella? How can we order it and from where?

Q: How many other books will there be in this series?
Tina: So far three, but I have others planned.
Q: What other books have you written and for what publishers?
Tina: I currently have 54 published romances. Here are my bio and links. Check out my website – http://tinadonahuebooks.blogspot.com/ – all my romances are there.
I’m an Amazon and international bestselling novelist in erotic, paranormal, contemporary and historical romance for Kensington, Samhain Publishing, Ellora’s Cave, Siren Publishing, Booktrope, Luminosity, Decadent, and indie. Booklist, Publisher’s Weekly, Romantic Times and numerous online sites have praised my work. Three of my erotic novels (Freeing the Beast, Come and Get Your Love, and Wicked Takeover) were Readers’ Choice Award winners. Another three (Adored, Lush Velvet Nights, and Deep, Dark, Delicious) were named finalists in the EPIC competition. Sensual Stranger, my erotic contemporary romance, was chosen Book of the Year at the French review site Blue Moon reviews. The Golden Nib Award at Miz Love Loves Books was created specifically for my erotic romance Lush Velvet Nights. Two of my titles (The Yearning and Deep, Dark, Delicious) received an Award of Merit in the RWA Holt Medallion competition. Take Me Away and Adored both won second place in the NEC RWA contest (different years). I’m featured in the Novel & Short Story Writer’s Market. Before penning romances, I worked at a major Hollywood production company in Story Direction.
On a less serious note: I’m an admitted and unrepentant chocoholic, I brake for Mexican restaurants, and have been known to moan like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally while I’m wolfing down tostadas. I’ve flown a single-engine airplane (freaking scary), rewired an old house using an ‘electricity for dummies’ book, and am horribly shy despite the hot romances I write.
