Title: A Lesson in Woo-Woo And Murder
Author: David Unger, PhD
Publisher: KDP
Format: trade paperback
Published on: May 1, 2023
Set in: Santa Monica, CA
Therapist David Unger, PhD is invited to attend the Whole Life Expo in Santa Monica, CA by Eve, who sells plants, and Sheridan, a drug dealer and poet. Eve has a strong intuitive hunch that the expo will be impacted by bad vibes.
Dr. Unger agrees to attend and quickly meets a number of expo participants. It will take time for him to figure out if these people are eccentric or believe what they are promoting is honestly the truth.
Early on, one man is unresponsive at the expo near the Tantric sex sign. He’s carted out by paramedics.
In the parking lot, Dr. Unger’s team meets with him. They are caught up in another drama: Bennett wants Dave to get Mr. Russo off his back. Russo was the producer of Bennett’s movie.
Dr. Unger returns to the expo and the Tantric sex booth so he can talk to Candy, Saffron, and Phillipe. They were in business a few years and Gordon’s death is a huge loss. So, with one less partner, the share has increased.
Dave then briefly speaks with Nova, The Love Doctor, extremely popular with the expo crowd, and Rajiv, who does Chakra Turning. He felt that since Gordon’s death, he didn’t deserve pleasure.
Madam Vadama of the House of Living Dreams shares an impression she has. She informs Dave that she sees romance in his life, but it’s not what he thinks.
Add Lucky, a former cab driver, now sleuth, and Louise, who runs a brothel in Vegas and you know Dave is never going to get any rest. Winnie, his St. Bernard, is a saint compared to the inner friendship circle.
Dr. Unger’s investigation continues, uncovering secrets, bodies, and all that jazz.
If this book is anything, it’s entertaining. It’s character-driven and boy do they have interesting personalities. Realistically, there could very easily be a convention of this type somewhere in the United States. There’s a good chance someone is right about the mysteries surrounding the unknown.
